Have you ever questioned your life, wondering if your career path isn’t going in the direction you truly want it to?
Let me take you back to when the world came to a standstill during the pandemic, a time when, my own life was about to be completely turned upside down.
May 2020 — the last time I was employed. I was called into a last-minute meeting with my boss. I thought it was to discuss the pay cut he’d imposed without warning, or the months of earnings I’d lost. But it wasn’t about money. It became a moment that would change everything.
He’d discovered I was in the early stages of starting up my own plumbing and heating business.
No conversation. No warning. No accountability for the money he owed me.
Just a blunt, cold dismissal under “conflict of interest.”
And just like that, I was gone.
At the same time, as a young dad with a family to support and no income to fall back on, I had a choice: play it safe and find another job, or back myself and step into the unknown.
I chose the latter.
But let’s be real — I had nothing. No van, no tools, no workspace, and not a single customer. Just 15 years of hands-on experience and qualifications, and a fire in my belly that wouldn’t let me quit.
To make it even harder, the UK was under strict lockdown! Tradespeople were banned from entering homes. Work was legally off-limits. Every opportunity felt like a closed door.
Still, I refused to let fear win and started my first business, Glow Energy Services, in the middle of a global pandemic, built from nothing but passion, perseverance, and the unshakable belief that I was made for more.
But here’s the thing: As my first business, I quickly realised that hard work and determination weren’t enough to win the race. I needed the skills, strategy, guidance, and serious personal growth to run a profitable business.
With £600 in my overdraft, I made a bold decision that changed everything. I went all in. And in that moment, I invested over £18,000 upfront and more than £40,000 over the next three years.
During that time, I studied under elite coaches, top marketers, and world-class mentors from the UK and US because, if I wasn’t willing to invest in becoming the best version of me, how could I ever expect clients to do the same?
I studied and implemented the five core business pillars: Marketing, Sales, Strategy, Finance, and Branding. And I added to that public speaking, mindset, social media, AI tools, click funnels, paid ads, property, and team-building.
I’m a firm believer that you are your company’s greatest asset, and that decision changed everything. It helped me build an incredible network and, even better, real friendships with people who are on the same mission. Plus, the skills I developed weren’t just for one business. They’re transferable assets I can take into every venture that follows.
Looking back, that decision created the spark that ignited everything. What began in survival mode, scrambling to generate sales, quickly transformed into a mission driven by purpose and potential.
One of the first game-changing lessons I learned was the power of mindset. Developing a positive, winning mindset didn’t just motivate me; it completely shifted how I showed up, how I served, and who I attracted. By elevating my thinking, I began attracting higher-value clients, which sparked a ripple effect across both my business and personal life.
The results were undeniable. In just a couple of years, what started from running the business from our dining room table grew into a fully equipped commercial office space. A major milestone that gave us the ability to separate work from home and operate with more focus and professionalism.And as the business grew, so did the opportunities.In 2023, we took things to another level, flying out to Thailand for a high-level business retreat. We were surrounded by serious action-takers and top industry players — the kind of room I had once only dreamed of being in. That experience didn't just expand my business horizons but also led to the building of genuine lasting friendships.Later that year, we hit another huge milestone, being recognised and awarded by The Elite Sales Academy for generating over £100,000 in sales.
But as I grew the business, my passion for the trade itself started to fade. Maybe it was the long hours, working alone most of the time, or the harsh realities of being in a trade where people need you but rarely appreciate you. Slowly, that spark that had once driven me began to fade.
As the years went by, the constant grind started to wear me down. And for someone who measures success by happiness, I found myself asking a deeper question: Is this really it? Is there more to life than this?
That’s when I started looking inward. While still attending business seminars, the answer I was searching for began to take shape. I noticed a pattern: many other business owners felt stuck, not because they lacked skill, but because they lacked clarity, confidence, and conviction.
That’s when I recognised a major gap in the market:
Most business owners are experts in their product or service, but many struggle to find their voice. They can’t clearly articulate their message, especially in front of a camera or in a group. Their brilliance stays hidden, and their message falls flat, missing the mark with their audience.
The result? Their value isn’t reflected in their branding or communication. Potential customers pass them by, not because they were better, but because they communicated better.

So, how does a tradesman go from boiler rooms to the creative world? Simple. I’ve always seen myself as a creative person first and a tradesman second. Even when speaking at public events, I found myself gravitating toward conversations about branding. I knew a shift was coming. I wasn’t just changing jobs; I was changing paths. Swapping spanners for storytelling. Boilers for brand building.

I channelled that passion into a new mission: to help business owners show up with boldness, speak with impact, and carry the same confidence in front of a camera or crowd as they do in their craft.
But this time, I made myself a promise: not to go fast, but to go far.
